The Beatles: Rock Band Set for September 9, Includes Beatles-Style Guitars

MTV, Harmonix and Beatles label Apple Corps. announced Thursday morning that the widely-anticipated The Beatles: Rock Band videogame will be released on September 9 for the Microsoft XBox 360, Sony Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii platforms in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other unspecified territories.
In addition, the companies said that limited edition hardware modeled on the Fab Four’s instruments will also be available — hopefully with the option to play Paul’s left-handed Hofner Violin Bass as a righty.
Here’s how the pricing stacks up for the game and its associated hardware:
The Beatles: Rock Band Software (Playstation, Xbox or Wii): $60
The Beatles: Rock Band Standalone Guitars: $100
The Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition Premium Bundle (includes the guitars): $250
During an recent interview (which we can hopefully post here soon as a video), Harmonix cofounder Eran Egozy told me that the Beatles version of Rock Band will not, as I had hoped, feature a side game in which one’s career as a fifth Beatle is derailed. However, when asked whether the game would feature scenarios such as the Hamburg nightclub where the Beatles got their start, an octopus’s garden, and others, he indicated that I was on the right track.
